Welcome to a few of our favourite boutique hotels in Cornwall. And we mean welcome. You’ll find no multi-storey monstrosities with online check in and keycards, just lovely places run by real people who care that you enjoy your stay. These are some great places to relax, explore and let friendly, knowledgeable locals guide you to a fresh perspective on the Cornish countryside.

Old Quay House, Fowey

Beautiful boat views from the balcony are just the beginning, at this lovely boutique hotel on the quayside at Fowey. Most of the thirteen rooms face the water and all of them have been decorated with a simple seaside air. You’ll find big baths in some, wet room showers in others, but the real draw is the dining room and terrace. Here, folding doors let the breeze and the sounds of clinking rigging flow round you at breakfast and dinner. Naturally the latter’s menu is well stocked with fresh, locally caught seafood.

The Old Coastguard

Two brothers, both alike in hospitality, have shaped their corner of Cornwall to echo the pastoral bliss of their upbringing in rural Wales. Charles and Edmund have form when it comes to creating boutique hotels that glow with charm, so it’s no surprise to find menus governed by the seasons, colourful interiors and a garden that rambles down to where the coastal path crosses the shore. A real fire burns in the hearth of the country-pub bar in winter, making this a lovely place to rest all year round.

Lewinnick Lodge

Lewinnick has stunning sea views, fabulous food and everything else you’d expect from Cornish hotel, but it’s all underpinned by an impressive environmental consciousness. The terrace and garden flourish with wildflowers to help the bees, the kitchen’s sourcing is impeccable, there are refillable water bottles in the rooms, EV charging points and even a rewards scheme to encourage you to use water and power responsibly, all subtly and naturally woven into your stay.

The Summer House

Trevor and Kirsten might just be the perfect couple to create a great boutique hotel in Cornwall. She’s an artist who’s influence and actual work you’ll find all through the place, he has a lifetime of experience in hotels, and they’re both sociable and love the area. What this all adds up to is a place where you can stroll the coastal path, meet local artists, join the hosts for six o’clock drinks and completely relax in an atmosphere of warmth, elegance and the laid-back feel of seaside life.
