The Experience
The beach is a 7-minute stroll, the cliff path crosses National Trust coastline, the quiet village has a surf school, shop and fish ‘n’ chips: all the ingredients for a terrific seaside holiday. The cottages are part of a horseshoe of converted farm buildings with communal gardens all tucked into a hillside with views over the Vale of Lanherne and out to sea.
Underfloor heating will keep you warm and there are roaring fires in the open-plan living rooms. Soak in a roll top bath; blast away sand under a huge shower head. Cook in sunny kitchens that catch the morning sun and, if you take both cottages, there’s plenty of room for 10 at the table.
Outside: watch the sunset over the bay with an evening drink and gaze up at the ‘living roof’ of flowers. It’s a short drive to the Eden Project or St Ives, but mostly you can leave the car behind. The coastal path stretches to Newquay, Watergate Bay and Padstow (good bus service, too) and there’s a friendly outdoor cafe with ducks and geese down the valley on your way to the ancient village of St Mawgan – a 40-minute walk through woodland and fields.

This is truly a very special place to stay. A beautiful and welcoming cottage overlooking a lovely valley and the sea. One of a small group of pretty cottages with communal garden, ideal for families, many of whom return year after year. A beautiful beach, costal path, shops selling essentials, places to eat, are all within a short walk.

We had a fantastic time staying at the Porth Farm cottages. It was our second visit. The cottage is fabulously positioned for walking into the village, or going for runs / walks in the local area. The cottage is very clean and well furnished and has a real charm to it.

Heavenly trip as always! Love these cottages so much, and they prove even more perfect on this trip with my baby! Carol kindly organised for a travel cot and highchair which made it super easy to visit. Don’t think you’ll find a better or cosier set up-ideal for all visitors, especially those that like going into the sea! Although the beach is the focus in lovely Mawgan Porth I can also highly recommend the beautiful walk from the cottages inland to St Mawgan, had a lovely walk round the Japanese garden there and a fab pub lunch

It is safe to say that we have fallen in love with Mawgan Porth, and No.6 has been an absolute dream of comfort and cosiness - I believe this is what they call 'Hygge' in Scandinavia (the concept of finding comfort, pleasure and warmth in simple, soothing things) well, No. 6 is a temple of Hygge. November is maybe an underrated time of year for a beach holiday - I think it might be my new favourite. It was quiet and beautiful, and it was such a treat to return from a cliff walk, or a nippy swim, a fresh surf, to cuddle up around a log fire at No.6. Thank you Carol! I highly recommend :)

This well positioned cottage exceeded all expectations. It was beautifully refurbished to make a delightful and spacious holiday home. it was well appointed with everything that was needed in every respect. It was impeccably clean with a high standard od bed linen. Even though we didn't have a car and a three year old for one of our two week stay we found plenty to do. We hope to return!

We spent a wonderful week in 5 Porth Farm Cottages.. The cottage is beautiful - charming, cosy and really well equipped.. The underfloor heating was so good we never got round to lighting the fire! Our toddler twins loved the luxurious double shower and playing in the gardens. The beach is stunning and dog friendly and the coastal path is just 5 minutes from the front door. Excellent cream teas at Carnewas National Trust an easy hike along the cliffs. Would love to come back!

We had such an enjoyable stay at 5 Porth Farm Cottages. Everything we needed was provided (even a garlic press!). The cottage was spotless & very cozy and comfortable. Perfectly situated for the short (if steep) walk to the beach & the local shops & eateries. We had 2 amazing walks from our doorstep. We followed the river to St Mawgan for lunch and a visit to the historic church. And we walked the cliff tops to Watergate Bay; stunning views all the way. Amazing bathroom, underfloor heating and the most spectacular sunsets over the sea. And we got sunshine! Couldn’t ask for more. Thanks.

We stayed in Cottage 5, although both cottages are beautiful. Real wood floors, tonnes of natural daylight streaming in, and the wind whistling around the eaves make these a refreshing and restorative place to stay. Underfloor heating in Number 5, an open fireplace and a simply stunning walk-in shower mean you don't want to leave! The beach is a 5 min walk with towering cliffs giving options for bracing walks. There's a little shop in Mawgan Porth that sells everything you need for a weekend, from Pasty's and Cider to fresh bread and produce. Can't wait to stay again!

Introducing
Carol & Peter Misch
Carol, Peter and their now grown-up children used to rent whichever of the cottages was available from the owners, who had bought and developed the farm buildings in the 1930s. They came for the beach and surf and when the cottages came up for sale just had to buy them. Using talented craftsmen to build the internal woodwork and guided by Peter’s very specific eye for detail they created two uncluttered cottages perfect for summer and winter stays.
We had a fantastic stay in No. 6 Porth Farm Cottage, with a couple of friends and our dog. The cottage is beautifully and sensitively furnished and is therefore really cosy. The attention to detail was exceptional. We loved the inspired joinery, the mix of stone & plaster & luxurious shower & bath - much appreciated after a day on the beach. It is located near to Mawgan Porth Beach and its stunning dog friendly beach. We loved the proximity of the beach, and how quiet it was in September. Being so close to the coastal path was another benefit - just a short trip to the National Trust cafe!
