The Experience
The farm, with half a mile of estuary foreshore and its own private quay, is home to 67 species of bird and a herd of organic cattle. Find three converted outbuildings set beside the original family farmhouse. Bens has a light, airy Scandinavian feel with a patio and private garden area. The Barn, a long single-storey space, is functional and super comfy with homely bedrooms and a sleeping gallery up in the roof. There’s an open living area, spacious kitchen and doors out to the garden.
The Farmhouse has a charming country house style, ideal for families or big groups. And the Flower House where daffodils were bunched for market is simple and cosy. Wander downhill to Scotts Quay – dinghies are provided – or hurl yourselves into a wild swim.
You’ll find a tea tray with biscuits and fresh flowers. This isn’t swish and swanky but it is full of heart, homely and relaxing.

Ben's cottage suited us well as our base for a family wedding at the Potager. Plenty of space for 2 (2 more beds available), very well and thoughtfully equipped. The location is superb, with access to lovely walks, and the tempting Tregilly Wartha pub just 10 minutes walk away enticed us to eat there 3 times!

Just spent the most perfect week at the Barn, Goongillings - lazy, sunny breakfasts amongst flowers, woodland and ancient settlement strolls, walking uphill to earn our sumptuous breakfast at the fabulously nearby Potager cafe, boating on the creek at dusk, barbecues on the patio, walking through the fields to world class theatre at the Tolmen Centre, local cider and mead wine cosied up in our homely, comely accommodation, friendly help and advice from our genial host Charles. We will definitely be back & this time will book a meal at the Tolmen cafe - the menu looked amazing.

Location
The neighbourhood
The pub at Trengilly Wartha is a two-minute walk and there's also a couple of small shops a 10-minute walk away in Constantine. Find good shops in Gweek, a 10-minute drive. Truro and Falmouth for bigger shops, restaurants and even sea shanty singing are both about 20-30 mins by car. The Potager Garden café is a five-minute drive.
Local points of interest from Charles & Barbara Pugh
- Just down the road - literally a stroll away - is the well known country pub the Trengilly Wartha Inn. Famous for its food, beer, wines, and friendly atmosphere - and so easy to get to from Goongillings
- A wildlife haven on your doorstep. Goongillings has been fully Organic for many years now, and there is a profusion of wildlife of every sort. As visitors you can wander freely over the 150 acres of beautiful riverside farmland, woods and foreshore
- The nearby village of Constantine has several good small shops, church, galleries and a local pub - as well as a surprising range of facilities all within easy walking distance
- The Tolmen Centre in Constantine - which we help run - is a thriving Arts and Community Centre with a good programme of theatre, music, films, a well known cafe, and a craft gallery. See more on village website www.constantinecornwall.com
- We have a good range of things to do on and around th e farm - some scruffy old dinghies at our private quay, a wildlife pond where you can swim, tennis court, even a derelict boat in the garden for kids to play in
- Goongillings is perfectly situated for all Cornwalls best places to see and visit - dozens of beaches, walks, attractions - even supermarkets! - are only a short drive away

Introducing
Charles & Barbara Pugh
Owners Charlie and Barbara live less than 100m away, so they are there if you need them. The farm has been in Charlie's family since 1954 when his parents bought it, and his passion for Organic farming is obvious. They are also part of Countryside Stewardship, a scheme to promote environmentally friendly farming and encourage wildlife habitat conservation in Cornwall.
If you'd love to immerse yourself in peaceful rurality, then the setting and cottages at Goongillings, above enigmatic Polwheveral Creek near Helford, will not disappoint. Charlie has lived at Goongillings most of his life and he and Barbara are open, warm and friendly hosts ready to share their passion and love for their homestead on their delightful and well recognised organic pasture farm.
