The Experience
It’s a mind-your-head sort of place with stunning herring bone slate tiled floors, lime-painted walls and a quirky layout. A well-designed modern kitchen has an induction hob and the sharpest knives – as befits a chef’s self-catering cottage. You’ll find milk and butter, local jams and a bottle of wine. On your first morning fresh bread and pastries will be delivered – a nice touch.
As well as the charming dining and sitting rooms there’s a small study/reading room, so plenty of space for six people not to feel on top of each other. Two bedrooms are on the first floor and the third is reached up a narrow stairway – this has a more private feel and a good view of village houses stretching up the hill.
Join the rugged up-and-down Coast Path from the village and head south to Polzeath or, in the other direction, Tintagel. There are circular walks and fine coves along the way – load up with delicious Nicki B pasties for sustenance.

Location
The neighbourhood
The harbour has been a bustling place since the 14th century, with pubs, cafés, shops and galleries along its narrow streets. Take a boat trip to spot dolphins, puffins and seals (if you're lucky) on Jeremy and Liz Brown's Boaty, walk 10 minutes to Outlaw's New Road restaurant, quaff St Austell Ales at The Golden Lion, eat fabulous crab and lobster sandwiches at 'Fresh from the Sea'.
Local points of interest from Ian Dodgson
- Port Isaac is home to Nathan Outlaw's two restaurants. Both specialising in seafood, and both hold a Michelin Star. Outlaw's Fish Kitchen is practically next door to Kittiwake Cottage, and Outlaw's New Road is a 10-minute walk.
- You're minutes away from some of the most picturesque coastal paths Cornwall has to offer, along with sandy beaches, and lush green country side. Incredible whichever direction you choose.
- Kittiwake Cottage was originally 3 fishermen's cottages, that over the years has been knocked through and combined. Hence the many staircases!
- Your seconds from the coast, and harbour. Get up at sunrise, make a coffee, sit on the platt and watch the fishermen set off for the day.
- Port Isaac is home to the Fishermen's Friends. A sea shanty group composed of Port Isaac locals signing traditional songs of the sea. In 2009 they shot to fame with a £1 million record deal, and can still be often found singing impromptu next the harbour.
- Port Isaac holds a Sea Shanty festival once a year, bringing in sea shanty signing groups up and down the country to perform throughout the village. Normally May each year and entry is free.

Introducing
Ian Dodgson
Ian is the General Manager of Outlaw's restaurants and places to stay, and you'll have his contact details if you need anything when you arrive. Nathan, talented chef and writer, is the owner – he has dedicated his craft to 'the pursuit of seafood excellence'. He and his team are supporters of local, organic and sustainable suppliers of food for the restaurants. He chose celebrated Cornwall designer Nicola O'Mara to transform the cottage for guests. You let yourselves in with a key safe.
It would be great to stay here with friends, so close to Nathan Outlaw's restaurants and to such a beautiful stretch of the SW Coast Path.
