The Experience
Relax in your own little courtyard garden with the chatter of birds, the rustle of trees and wonderful views.
Step into a peaceful flag-stoned space, with a large bedroom downstairs, a twin under the eaves, and a wood-burner for cosy nights in. This converted field cattle shelter is the most secluded of the cottages on these 70 acres, and the whole place is a dream for walkers and children. Not only are there hens (buy eggs when they’re laying), sheep, cows and two friendly dogs, but a forest school just below.
You’ve 30 acres of ancient woodland to explore and on the edge of the farm is Jackdaw Bridge, built by Brunel. From here, it’s a 15-minute walk to the local pub, or the canal towpath leads to lovely laid-back Stroud. Then it’s home to books, games, views, and your very own wood-fired hot tub.

Location
The neighbourhood
A nature-based escape for couples, families, hikers, and dogs. The farm is home to butterflies, orchids, wildflowers, buzzards, kites, roe deer and 30 acres of Designated Ancient Woodland. Public footpaths link with the Wysis Way and the Bathurst Estate at Cirencester. Artisan and local treats, as well as good coffee and burgers, can be found at The Jolly Nice Farm Shop and Deli – a five-minute drive.
Local points of interest from Dan & Ali
- Saddle up... Get on your horse, bareback or on a saddle. The owners can take novices and more experienced riders on a trek through the woods on their three steady ponies, Sailor, Carrot and Rolo. You might even get as far as the pub. Please book ahead.
- Swing a club… the neighbouring Minchinhampton Common, a remarkable hilltop site with Iron Age and Bronze Age features as well as roaming cattle, is also home to one of the wildest golf courses this side of Scotland. A uniquely challenging experience.
- Local flavours… Stroud, just 4 miles from the farm, boasts the nation’s premier farmers’ market, as well as a vibrant cultural scene, bars, a cinema and the truly fab Stroud Brewery, organic, local and serving pizza and music at weekends.
- ake a dip… indulge your inner adventurer at the Cotswold Water Park, offering an enormous array of activities, from wakeboarding to angling.
- Take a hike… the farm is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, and there are several walks that start and finish on the property – many of them passing one of the many wonderful traditional Cotswold pubs.
- Past pleasures… history comes alive at Berkeley Castle, where you can peek at the room where Edward II was reputedly murdered, or marvel at the sumptuous setting of Sudeley Castle, where Katherine Parr, Henry VIII's last wife, is buried.

Introducing
Dan & Ali
Dan and Ali (a journalist and an artist) fell in love with the Stroud valleys before moving in 2017 to Westley Farm. They are an engaging and delightful couple who are bursting with ideas for future projects, from making honey from wildflower meadows to offering horse livery stays. They have a passion to re-jig the gardens, be organic and, wherever possible, use local craftsmen; note the hand-crafted holiday yurts.
Absolutely idyllic cottage in wonderful surroundings. We loved our stay with our 10 month old. The cottage has everything you need and the hot tub is a must! The farm is beautiful and has lots of lovely walks from the door. Loads of amazing pubs and farm shops nearby. Can not recommend enough. The hosts are very helpful and easy to contact. You can have some supplies ready for your arrival also.
