Amiable Raffles the terrier is a treat too.

Reviews

Pepper Cottage is a cosy thatched cottage, with a pretty English garden, set in a beautiful Cotswolds village. There are charming original beams, thick luxurious carpets, carefully curated antique furniture, crisp white bed linen, fluffy warm bathroom towels and comfortable fireside armchairs. Toushy is an utterly charming host. She is kind, attentive and an excellent cook. Our breakfast was absolutely delicious. We had fresh fruit, locally produced yogurt, eggs from a local farm, thick bacon - a perfect English Breakfast! We were reluctant to leave this beautiful place. Thank you Toushy!

Pepper Cottage and Touchy are a match made in heaven. Greeted with tea and cake in her beautiful garden, Touchy made our three day stay everything we needed and more. The house is beautifully furnished, our bedroom and bathroom had everything we could need, plus a dish of smarties! Touchy is the kindest most thoughtful host. Breakfast was whatever we wanted and cooked with care, and eaten looking out to the garden. Thank you Touchy

A piece of heaven - beautiful house set in a beautiful garden with a stream running through. Comfortable and beautiful rooms, and a cooked breakfast to die for! The host, Toushy, was delightful and went out of her way to look after us.

Tessa, Cottesmore

My wife and I stayed for one night en route to visiting family. The location, the friendly and helpful reception, the comfort and ambience, the breakfast were all faultless, a perfect stop-over on our way to see our family . We would also certainly recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay for longer in this area, and we hope to return some time.

Roger, St Connec

A most wonderful welcoming generous hostess, Toushy goes out of her way to ensure you have a truly relaxing stay. Our second visit wax every bit as good as the first in May thus year.

What an amazing find this beautiful home is tucked away in the cotswolds. Such a delightful bed and breakfast with a lovely hostess who looked after us so well. This is a beautiful home, warm and comfortable with delicious breakfast as well. Thank you so much dear Toushy we will certainly be back again!

Rachel, Exeter

We had a lovely stay at the charming Pepper Cottage. A beautiful home with lovely decor, interesting books and paintings. The bedroom was lovely and the breakfast excellent. Touchy was a very graceful host and managed to find us supper at a nearby pub at late notice. Highly recommended.

Pepper "Cottage" is in fact a spacious and most attractive house, with all the luxury of a top hotel, plus the quirky and very real charm of a part-15th-century thatched cottage set in a pretty garden. The master bedroom is lovely, with an exposed timber screen and a gloriously comfortable bed, and the bathrooms are splendidly efficient. Not easy to find the first time, but a jewel once you do.

What can we say! Pepper Cottage is total perfection. After a long car journey Toushy and Raffy were there for us with such a warm welcome followed by tea and cake sitting in the drawing room beside a roaring fire. Toushy's home is beautiful with such a peaceful atmosphere and her attention to detail in everything was so much enjoyed and appreciated. We are really looking forward to a return visit.

Peter and Margaret Frost, Torquay

One of those rare, VERY special stays. Charming and beautiful, peaceful and restful, comfortable bed and lovely room. Loved everything about our host and her gracious, caring ways. We were made to feel most welcome and Toushy catered for our requests for hypoallergenic bedding and dietary requirements. We enjoyed our stay so much that we promptly returned the following week and we will definitely be back again. It was a real tonic and we came away uplifted and full of joy on both occasions.

Nigel and Christine, Bude, Cornwall

It was a treat and an honour to stay in Toushy's beautiful home which is warm, comfortable and stimulating with its plethora of interesting books on a vast variety of subjects, its lovely furniture and furnishings, and the welcoming and homely atmosphere. The breakfasts were delicious and Toushy's attention to detail was much appreciated. She made us very welcome and we were able to enjoy a rare meet-up with old friends in the various spacious and comfortable living rooms where we were welcome to relax.

Philippa & Martin, Stourbridge

Our hostess, Toushy, and her little dog, Raffi, made us very welcome in her beautifully appointed thatched cottage. She let out an extra room too, so that we could meet and spend time with a couple of old not-often-seen friends! Delicious breakfasts were prepared to order from an almost unlimited menu which included local produce; the beds were home-from-home comfortable, the hot water plentiful and the shower powerful! We have no hesitation recommending Pepper Cottage.

Tony and Kate, Weymouth

The room was very comfortable with a large bathroom. It would have been easy to spend all the time in the spacious room but there is also a sitting room with a welcoming stove and a breakfast room with an open fire. The location is convenient for both access and for exploring the whole of the Cotswolds. The owner is delightful company and shows impressive attention to detail and generous help with visit planning.

DR CAROLE A, London

Pepper Cottage and Toushy are both delightful. The cottage is beautiful: thatched roof, oak beams, big comfortable bed, lovely views. Toushy takes great care of her guests and I felt well-rested and revived.

Elizabeth, MACCLESFIELD

Our recent stay at Pepper Cottage was a delight. The house and gardens are beautiful, the setting retired and peaceful, and Toushy’s welcome could not have been warmer: she went out of her way to make us feel at home. The breakfast was excellent. It was a shame we could not spend longer there. We certainly hope to return the next time we are in that part of the country.

Clive, Huddersfield

Pepper Cottage epitomises why Sawday is the "Bible" for the discerning traveller. Quite simply the best hospitality we have experienced in forty years of travelling in the U.K. Toushy is a charming host and the cottage is absolutely delightful. We will certainly be back.

Mary, Castlebar

We had a wonderful stay at Pepper Cottage. Toushy is a fabulous host who cooks a fantastic brrakfast. We highly recommend staying here!

David, London

Fantastic B and B. Beautiful cottage, wonderful host, great in every way. We would certainly visit again.

Jill, Hertfordshire

The warmest of welcomes awaited us from Toushy and Raffles. After showing us to our large room we were invited for a refreshing cup of tea in a drawing room we could use whilst there. Unfortunately it was dark on our arrival so we were unable to fully appreciate our accommodation location until the following morning. Our breakfast was cooked to perfection and the local sausages were delicious. We could not have asked for a better hostess in Toushy and look forward to returning.

Celeste, Derby

Toushy could not have been more welcoming. Her house is beautiful and the bedroom large and very comfortable with a good bathroom and shower. The sitting room had a fire and we relaxed there in front of the fire before popping out to the nearby pub for a good dinner. Breakfast was delicious with all you could want. We would like to have stayed longer!

Local points of interest from Toushy Squires

  • Pepper Cottage nestles down a hidden lane between two orchards so we are deliciously quiet yet within a few minutes of the village. Our bubbling stream just might send you off into a deep, refreshing sleep after a good walk up the hill.
  • We are in an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ in the West Cotswolds, near Cheltenham. Enjoy meandering through charming villages of honey-coloured stone, castles full of history and inspiring gardens. Capability Brown's first commission is nearby.
  • The history of this area is told by the sheep, by cathedrals, churches and castles, and by the odd battle or two. Tewkesbury's Abbey is a bastion against time ignoring the scars of history. A key battle of the War of the Roses took place under its nose!
  • The Festivals of Racing at Cheltenham, of Literature, Science, Music and Jazz are immensely popular and enriching. Discover our version of the Chelsea Flower Show at Malvern, or watch a Morgan being made or, even, race a car up Prescott Hill!
  • The Vale of Evesham is one of England's great food producing areas where pride in its production is high. Visit Food Fairs and sample homegrown and homemade delights: new cheeses, jams and chutneys, sausages, game birds and venison!
  • Relax in an old walker's pub, perched on a hilltop with long views and amazing skies or go down to the river to find the fisherman's delight and gulp down your oysters! For something special, look for a Michelin starred restaurant - well hidden away.
