The Experience

Come for a wonderful treat – this is the sort of place that’s entirely unfussy and where children and dogs are welcomed as warmly as adults.

Great care has gone into the design and style of this striking brick-and-flint barn, old bones are honoured while inside an industrial aesthetic reigns with beautiful stained glass windows reflecting its previous life as a glassblowing factory. Unbend on fat leather sofas under a high vaulted ceiling in the lounge, hang out in ‘The Den’, a grown-up games room opening to a Mediterranean-style courtyard. A jolly spot to gather round the fire pit after supper.

32 bedrooms (big, bigger, biggest) come with contemporary four-posters and top-notch bathrooms. Get breakfast – all home cooked to order – delivered to your room if you fancy a lazy start to the day. Supper is also a treat: modern British dishes using local food.

Reviews

This is such a lovely hotel - huge attention to detail in all the furnishings and decor, a lovely pool and jacuzzi, great food and kind considerate staff. I would definitely go back! All the staff seemed genuinely happy to work there.

Clare, London

The ‘Bigger Room’ category and bathroom are very well appointed and the food in Stanley’s was good with a small choice of Specials on the dinner menu. The courtyard is a lovely place to sit for drinks and snacks. The Reception staff were very helpful. Harper is a well run, relaxed place to stay

Diane, Bedfordshire

Contemporary-smart hotel set in beautiful barns that once housed the Langham Glass factory, just minutes from salt marshes and vast sandy beaches. Expect a laid-back vibe, a big welcome to families and dogs, an all-day menu served in the raftered lounge or amongst lavender in The Yard, and delicious set dinners in Stanley's. Rooms are very comfortable; there's a pool, sauna and treatments too.

Location

The neighbourhood

From the village, you can walk into open countryside with footpaths to Blakeney and the coast. A designated AONB, there are countless walks along the coast path, which snakes along a landscape of salt marshes, creeks and mudflats. Visit Burnham Market (25 mins) and pretty Holt (15 mins), take seal trips to Blakeney Point (10 mins).

Local points of interest from

  • We source as much food as we can locally, which tends to make it more expensive (but worth it!). Catch of the day is provided by North Norfolk fishermen working sustainably, and when we buy meat, it’s the whole animal.
  • We have biomass boilers for heating and hot water and we’ve provided plenty of EV charging points in the car park.
  • Our little sister The Langham Blue Bell is just a 5min walk from the hotel serving up delicious roasts and pies in a cosy atmosphere.
  • The iconic mill towering over the saltmarshes at Cley-next-the-Sea isn’t the only attraction – it’s also a great spot for sea fishing.
  • Boat trips to Blakeney Point are all the more fun for seal spotting. Set out from nearby Morston Quay and the more inquisitive will sometimes treat you to a swim around the boat.
  • Voted one of the best in Britain, Holkham Beach is also a favourite film set location. It’s one of many huge North Norfolk beaches brilliant for walking, kite flying or just soaking up the sun.
