The Experience
Find a heap of good things when you arrive: a generous pack including homemade cake, flowers, fresh fruit, milk, wine, Pilgrim’s coffee from Holy Island, chocolate from Alnwick, local papers. And on top, you can order a brimming breakfast hamper, meat for a week, local pies, a fridge full when you arrive, a chef to cook for you…
Stare at the amazing views both north and south from the big open-plan living room/kitchen; light the wood-burner and play games; put on DVDs – the screen is big. You’ll love cooking here – incredible kitchen with huge central island and absolutely every mod con you can think of. Most of the bedrooms have doors out to the terrace – drift off to gentle baaing.
Spa treatments can be organised, bikes too if you fancy exploring without the car, and you can walk from the walled garden into meadows and fells. Watch the sunsets from the wooden deck, cook on the barbecue on balmy eves – there’s a great big table to gather round. For dinner out, try The Tree House Restaurant in Alnwick (seven miles) or Felton’s Northumberland Arms which is a bit further.

Our second stay at Teal House. Fantastic location with loads to do in the surrounding area. The cottage itself is beautiful, cosy and well equipped. The area is very peaceful. Even if it rains it is not disappointing to have to stay in! Definitely one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in.

We have had multiple holidays at Teal house because it is so lovely. The location of the property is wonderful, we enjoy the tranquillity, the scenery and wildlife. The house is very well equipped and has everything you need. Teal House is an excellent place to relax whilst still being able to easily visit the attractions of Northumberland.

We stayed in Teal House for one week with 3 generations and were thrilled! It's a real "home from home", perfect floor plan for any family, lovely facilities, cosy and a bit of luxury (every bedroom ensuite), books and games for any age-group. The surroundings are picturesque, wonderful nature: variety of birds, sheep... and after a short drive, you are at the seaside where puffins, seals and - if you are lucky - dolphins are waiting for you around the Farne Islands. The perfect holiday place for anyone who appreciates cosiness, remoteness and nature!

Excellent cottage 10/10. The reality is even better than what i could have hoped for. Very spacious, both in all the bedrooms and the main living area. All mod cons, easy to use, and can easily cope with 4 adult couples. Beautiful rural surroundings, with plenty of wildlife. A real gem :-)

This was our second family holiday at Teal House, and all I can say is that staying there is a real treat. It's beautifully furnished and decorated, in lovely, peaceful surroundings, and feels very homely. Lydia, the owner, is lovely and friendly and always available to offer any help and guidance. She only ever wants to ensure that guests enjoy their stay. We can't wait to return!

I just wanted to say we had an amazing stay at Teal House, thank you so much for the generous welcome pack and for managing our bedding requirements. It is such a beautiful property and was perfect for a family get away. We are already thinking of an excuse to come back! This is only the second time we have booked a property via Sawday’s and both times we have been blown away by the quality and unique setting. The property was awash with amenities and everything was finished to such a high standard.

Teal house is a 6 star treasure!! Set in the most beautiful location with breathtaking countryside capturing you from your first arrival. We were a family of eight staying in the cottage for a very special occasion and there was more than enough space for us all , the children found toys and games to keep them occupied when they weren’t exploring the gardens. Truly exceptional comfort and everything you could ask for to make our stay most enjoyable, we loved the panoramic views that allowed us to view all the wildlife. We were very sad to be leaving!

Our stay at Teal House was memorable for the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful property and its awesome location deep in Northumberland's rugged landscape. It was a six star experience all the way in this beautifully appointed house with all mod cons and luxurious furnishings. Top drawer! We wrenched ourselves away from the rural idyll to explore the wild and wonderful beauty of the Northumberland coast which is a short drive away via the historic town of Alnwick.

Location
The neighbourhood
You're 25 minutes away from Craster with its great smokery Robson & Sons – buy kippers, fresh crab, deli relishes; lovely walk from here to Dunstanburgh Castle. Alnwick has nice shops including Barter Books – an enormous bookshop selling old and new books and with two cafes with roaring fires; there are two riding schools on the outskirts of the town. Just over half an hour will take you to Bamburgh for the magnificent castle, Beadnell for paddle boarding and kite surfing, Seahouses to catch the boat to the Farne Isles for puffins. A fishing permit can be sorted for the river Coquet – lovely swimming here too – or book a private guided walk with a retired shepherd.
Local points of interest from Abbe Van Driel
- Northumberland offers wild coastline, a string of sandy beaches, historic castles and forts, secret surf spots, chocolate box cottages and quaint harbour towns combined with dynamic mountain range scenery that will take your breath away.
- Head to the picturesque seaside village of Alnmouth to discover bijou galleries hidden down cobbled streets. Don’t miss the renowned Art Festival in the summer which showcases over 70 artists, live music, street food and children’s workshops.
- Enjoy a boat trip to the Farne Islands, one of the best spots to see a wide range of sea birds in the British Isles. It is the biggest Grey Seal sanctuary in England and one can find Puffins more plentiful here in season than almost anywhere else in the UK
- Saddle up and enjoy country hacks near the banks of the nearby River Till to galloping in the heather on the moors overlooking the Cheviot Hills and cantering along the white beaches of Holy Island with one of the friendly local riding schools.
- Northumberland has more castles than any other county in England. Many of these castles, including Warkworth, Dunstanburgh, Bamburgh and Lindisfarne, stand guard along our dramatic coast.
- With more than 30 miles of beaches, a galapagos of islands, hidden coves and designated areas of outstanding natural beauty. Head over to Beadnell beach, a hub of activity where you can enjoy windsurfing, waterskiing, coasteering, canoeing and sailing.

Teal House is a wonderful place. The property is amazing, beautifully decorated and well thought out. The views are stunning, (new born lambs during our stay)..The kitchen appliances are good.. crockery is plentiful etc. The location is good with plenty to do in the area...downside is the track leading to the property potentially difficult for some cars and probably useful to know beforehand. Overall, good value for money, the owners are kind and helpful...A peaceful place, enjoyed our stay a great deal....
