The Experience
It’s spacious here with two generous sitting rooms, a dining room, sunny conservatory kitchen and a snug reading room so you’ll never feel on top of one another. Lovely to sink into one of the many inviting sofas and sit by the real fire with a book if the weather keeps you indoors. On sunny days you’ll be out in the paved garden which spans the width of the house and has raised beds with evergreen shrubs and trees and two seating areas. It’s remarkably quiet for the middle of town.
Settle down in roomy bedrooms with good antiques and pictures, large bedside lamps, thick curtains and plentiful cushions on well-dressed beds. All en suite bathrooms are pristine and there are Molton Brown soaps – you’ll feel like you’re staying in a smart hotel. Cook together in the kitchen-with-everything, eat convivially in the turquoise dining room.
Wander into town in minutes for charming shops, good restaurants and an excellent theatre.

Location
The neighbourhood
Shops, restaurants, the exquisite cathedral and the Pallant art gallery are all a short walk from the house. There is little traffic because the roads are narrow and much of the surrounding area is pedestrian only, so shopping is a treat. Walks abound on the Downs, West Wittering beach is good for water sports, Bracklesham Bay is in a lovely setting and East Head is for nature lovers.
Local points of interest from Rachel King
- St Martin's House is in a sought after and peaceful side street in the heart of the city, with shops, cafes and restaurants just a stones throw away. Explore the Norman cathedral, stroll the ancient city walls or picnic in prettily planted Bishops gardens.
- Theatre goers will love the close proximity of Chichester Festival Theatre which hosts many fantastic shows that go on to success in London. There are plenty of delicious eateries offering pre theatre dining along the way too!
- Goodwood is a short drive away and is host of many fantastic events. The Festival of Speed and Revival are two motorsport events that are not to be missed! Sip champagne & admire the stunning hilltop views whilst choosing a winner at Goodwood horse racing.
- The rolling sand dunes at West Wittering Beach are well worth a visit. Stroll around East Head, take a dip or hire a beach hut. The adventurous can hire surf & paddleboards. We recommend a waterside pitstop at Dell Quay or Chichester Marina en-route home!
- Chichester lies at the foot of the South Downs National Park. Whether you'd like to meander through ancient yew trees, hike for breathtaking views across the sea to the Isle of Wight or find a perfect place for a picnic - we can suggest the route!
- Art enthusiasts can head over to internationally acclaimed Pallant House Gallery just a short walk from the house. Drive just a few miles north to find West Dean for art courses and beautiful gardens. Arundel Castle also has stunning grounds to explore.

Introducing
Rachel King
The owners live elsewhere and their daughter-in-law Rachel manages this house and two others. She is just 15 minutes away if you need any help but leaves you two beautifully-prepared booklets - one about the house and another about the area.
What can I say other than the house is simply stunning! It exceeded all my expectations. It was brilliant to be in the centre of the city and so close to the shops but also to have parking. There is so much to explore in the area - we had some beautiful walks at the beach and in the Downs as well as enjoying some great food in the city. The beds were extremely comfortable and I had a fantastic weekend with my Mum and sister. I would highly recommend!
