The Experience
Gorgeous countryside in this neck of the woods, rolling and lush, with a posse of sheep round every corner. The house, cottage and six acres of orchard and paddock stand on their own, with heart-stopping views. Inside the cottage the style is an enticing mix of modern and vintage with two bedrooms downstairs and a master up top. We loved the ground-floor double bedroom, calming and cosy, but the top suite is a wow, with three separate spaces and a French-style bed. Snuggle up by the wood-burner for a cosy night in with a basket of logs on the house and a plasma TV; in summer, drift onto the patio with furniture, barbecue (gas provided) and views. You’re left with basics in the cupboards and a welcome pack of locally sourced fresh bread, eggs from the hens outside, butter, milk and cheese. As for pubs, you’re spoilt: the Coach & Horses at Bolton by Bowland, the legendary Inn at Whitewell, the Spread Eagle at Sawley, down the road.

The cottage was perfect for our needs and we felt extremely confident in the safety measures which have been taken in preparing for our stay. The lovely welcome back of a few basic groceries and a bottle of wine were a very thoughtful and welcome surprise! If there was anything we needed or advice about the area, Louise was there to help. If you're not familiar with the area prepare to be blown away by its beauty.

The cottages are in a very quiet location surrounded by fields (and a lot of sheep)! Our dog loved Gisburn Forest which is just a few miles away. The Kitchen had everything you could need and we even managed a couple of meals outside in the BBQ. Louise was very happy to help with any additional items we needed.. like a parasol. A perfect place to have a relaxing getaway.

Quiet rural location, ideal place to get away from it all. Gamekeepers Cottage was spotless and the owners are making a big effort to make the accommodation Covid compliant whilst still feeling comfortable for guests. Very friendly and helpful owners, the cottage was really well equipped to a modern standard and tastefully decorated. Great location for country walks, with pubs in Settle a few miles away.

Introducing
Louise & Stephen McAneny
Louise loves interior design and is always on the lookout for quirky things to add to the cottage. She and Stephen love to travel with their three grown up children whenever they can. They all fell in love with Wigglesworth House on their return to the UK from Brussels and Budapest before that. Louise is a very happy Yorkshire lass and glad to be 'home'
Everything was 5*: location, welcome, cottage, equipment, etc. Louise was helpful before (found us an excellent riding stables) and whilst visiting (dining recommendations, etc.) when requested. Would happily book again - our 2 dogs loved it too.
