The Experience
This vast 2000-acre estate tucked on the south west coast of Scotland has been in the family since 1900. Now a clutch of luxuriously renovated lodges mean you can have your own adventure in nature; stroll around the botanical gardens, take a picnic down to the beach, row the lochs spotting otters and lose yourself in the maze.
The owners who live in the big house leave you a generous welcome hamper, and the estate chefs can provide homemade frozen meals if you’re feeling lazy. The 1850 lodge is warm and inviting, a cosy open-plan space with two bedrooms, one up, one down, with dressing gowns and slippers ready and waiting – all wrapped by a garden with a fire pit, barbecue and an outdoor bath for a starlit soak.
You’ve got loads of options: do your own thing, get involved in activities on site – archery, ranger walks, fishing, axe throwing, clay shooting – or visit pretty pastel-hued Portpatrick on the coast.

Location
The neighbourhood
The Estate has two waterfalls, two lochs, and three beaches, yours to explore and with the most magnificent walks along the craggy Scottish coastline. Find a maze in the woodland garden or take the glen walk past the waterfall and brook to the two beaches. Spot dolphins and seals or go fishing.. Dunskey Golf Course and the picturesque Portpatrick Harbour are two minutes away.
Local points of interest from Anne Tristine Nguyen
- Artemisia is inspired by the fierce Renaissance female artist, Artemisia Gentileschi, who encouraged us to handcraft this lodge into a pocketful of whimsical luxury while jettisoning all conventionality out of its century-old windows.
- Upon entrance, you'll be wowed by the pale robin-egg blue surroundings, which are matched to the Arcadian mural on the main wall. The art deco chrome-and-velvet sofa perfectly blends into the mural, with flashes of hot pink cushions.
- Downstairs, the bedroom features two Georgian wicker and pine beds alongside a hand painted mural by Jen Robson. An en-suite bathroom here contains a rain shower.
- Along the sunny stairwell, you'll find the entire top floor devoted to the main bedroom. A gorgeous mural of whimsical woodland hugs one wall where a dedicated workspace can be found.
- Turquoise beds and gold accents are found throughout here. Step across the hallway to find a truly spacious bathroom with a luxurious bathtub and view of the woods, alongside a rain shower.

Introducing
Anne Tristine Nguyen
You are looked after by a small, dedicated team who want to share with you this glorious hidden gem. Everything they do is rooted in their three values: compassion, innovation and transformation. The dedication to sustainability here is paramount with nearly 100% of their energy renewable, the composting of 100% of their food waste and water from a fresh spring.
What a treat to soak up the peace and beauty of an age-old Scottish estate. There's loads of space around the lodge and lots to explore including a maze and botanical gardens. There's a beach a walk away and enough activities that you'd barely feel the need to leave.
