The Experience
The sitting room is designed to bring the outside in, with six large windows and a special viewing chair. Clever lighting, underfloor heating and a wood-burner give warmth and atmosphere at night but you can also see Eilean Donan Castle lit up five miles away. It’s an uncluttered space with photographs and pictures by local artists, the odd sculpture, a modern kitchen with clean lines and a dining table with views. Lynsey leaves you a bottle of wine, chocolates, good coffee and fresh milk.
Bedrooms (one can be a twin) are large with fat mattresses, squishy pillows and doors to the outside so you can enjoy a morning cuppa transfixed by big skies and watery vistas. A large garden surrounds you so you can eat outdoors and watch the boats on the loch – on clear nights you should see plenty of stars.
Head out onto the water, swim if you’re brave, paddle board, kayak, or simply look out for wildlife – deer roam freely.

Local points of interest from Lynsey & James Whyte
- Avernish Lodge is situated on the shores of Loch Duich near Dornie in Wester Ross .Within a three mile drive is the iconic Eilean Donan Castle. The 13th century castle had been used in numerous film and documentaries.
- If atmospheric pubs and delicious seafood is your thing, why not take the twenty minute drive to Plockton. This stunning seafront village lined with palm trees is known as the jewel of the highlands with good reason.
- To sample some local produce we recommend Manuela's Wee Bakery in Ardelve. Here they produce quality bread, cakes and gin. Over in Dornie we suggest visiting The Clachan Bar for top quality bar meals.

Introducing
Lynsey & James Whyte
Lynsey is a local lass and James (an electrician by trade) hails from near Inverness. They built the house themselves with the help of a designer but with firm ideas of their own. They ran a B&B years ago so have a canny sense of what guests are looking for and they've built for comfort and style combined. They hope you enjoy it as much as they did - they spent lockdown here.
Clean, modern lines and masses of natural light at this lodge by the meeting place of three Lochs. Views soar to a magnificent castle, the Isle of Skye is close for island hopping and the walking is sublime. Return to underfloor heating, a roaring wood-burner, comfortable view-filled bedrooms and a super kitchen.
