The Experience
Getting here is half the fun. You end up on the ‘headland of the great seas’, Ardnamurchan, with the Atlantic surging around you on three sides. The cottage, all on one floor, overlooks a gleaming loch, big windows show off dreamy views and the forest is blessed with oak, birch, rowan, larch and spruce. Stay quiet and you may be lucky enough to see owls, otters, pine martens and even eagles.
Indoors is warm, restful and pleasing with natural materials, some antiques, interesting pictures and comfy seating, a log-burner for cosy evenings and a well-equipped kitchen with room for joiners-in; bedrooms have well-dressed beds and more lovely views. The peace will be palpable.
Children will be in heaven making dens and generally charging about safely, wild swimmers will find bracing waterfalls and wonderful beaches, botanists will be enthralled by the Atlantic rainforest and the idle can open a bottle of whisky and read a book quietly.

I kept searching the usual lyrical words to try and conjure up a picture for people of what Borradill is, but the answer is you just have to see it. Scotland rightfully boasts some of the most stunning scenery with vivid colours and textures. A stay at Borradill is literally sitting in the landscape and soaking up the immense beauty. If you want to Breath and Be and Go slow then here is the place.

The house was so welcoming and we immediately felt right at home - the place was so cleverly decorated, spacious yet warm and cosy - we can see that it would be just as comfortable in the summer too. We were given plenty of amazing information about the house and surroundings, great walks and things to do, as well as recommendations for a fabulous fishmonger on the way there! We seriously considered extending our stay because we loved it so much, and have had lots of conversations since about how to make getting our own house up there a reality. Thank you for sharing it with us!
