The Experience

A breath of fresh air close to the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. Energetic young owners have completely redecorated their new home and it feels bright, uncluttered, easy-going.  Welsh blankets, Edwardian tiling, glass and fireplaces blend their charm with stripped boards, simple blinds, painted and bistro-style furniture. Chalkboards tell you what’s for breakfast, and supper – Meg’s a good cook and sources as locally as possible. Beds are wide and deep, views are peacefully green. Walk to Newport or St Dogmaels, catch the Poppit Rocket back and watch the sun set over the distant sea. The old vicar would surely approve!

Reviews

Lovely laid back place to stay with a warm welcome. We loved the setting, views, garden, breakfast and supper. Nice touches throughout and especially liked the blackboard map of the Pembrokeshire in the breakfast room.

Susan, Woodbridge

Lovely, friendly place to stay. The location was amazing, rural with countryside views and close to the coast. The rooms were fantastic, beautifully decorated and set out, comfy bed and great views. We received a lovely welcome from Megan and were made to feel at home throughout our stay. Well worth booking dinner as Meg is a brilliant cook, both the breakfasts and dinners were amazing with great local produce.

Local points of interest from Megan van Soest

  • We're just minutes away from the coastal path and there is a beautiful walk through the woodland towards the sea which takes approximately 25 minutes. Perfect for an after breakfast stroll!
  • If you decide to walk to the beach, why not walk a little way along the coastal path to the glorious 'Witches Cauldron', a natural inlet in the cliffs where you can swim if you're really brave, or just sit and admire the view with a flask of tea!
  • Every week there are wonderful local produce markets in St Dogmaels in the grounds of the old Abbey - lots of delicious food and a gorgeous place to explore.
  • The North Pembrokeshire coastline has plenty of wonderful restaurants, cafes and pubs which are perfect for recuperating after a day of exploring!
  • If you don't fancy heading out and would rather laze away here, we can rustle up delicious menus catered just for you. Just let us know what you like and we'll source the best local ingredients and create a wonderful, relaxed evening meal!
  • The Old Vicarage has been a B&B on and off since the 1960's. The history and the stories told by some of the old local farmers is both hilarious and fascinating. The richness and vibrancy of all those who have stayed and lived here is tangible.
