The Experience
La Borie faces west, looking away from the other cottages and with a newly-decked terrace designed to take full advantage of the sunset and views – lovely to have a sundowner here. It’s compact indoors, just one open-plan room with a beamed ceiling, terracotta tiles and pale walls and a sleeping area with shower room. No door between the two areas will be fine for intimate souls.
The kitchen is well-equipped for holiday cooking and you’ll find a bottle of the local bio rosé in the fridge along with homemade cake. The local boulangerie delivers fresh croissants each morning. Stroll around the perimeter of the Domaine along mown paths, past two ponds and a field with donkeys – views are over the agricultural landscape and the planted grounds.
The nearest town is Issigeac (five minutes by car) with three restaurants, a boulangerie and medieval architecture along its narrow winding streets.

Location
The neighbourhood
The landscape is of rolling arable fields with copses and small hills. On Sunday mornings head for Issigeac market which attracts stall holders and visitors from miles around - this is the place to buy your vegetables and local honey. You're in bastide country for castles and the Dordogne River, riding at Faux (15 minutes) and a fairy tale castle plus the delicious sweet wine at Monbazillac.
Local points of interest from Nathalie & Tim Cointault
- Surrounded by the beautiful verdant French countryside, begin the day by taking a morning stroll around the 7 hectare estate, or simply enjoying the morning on the terrace with some freshly baked croissant, delivered by our local bakery.
- Then, whether choosing to spend the day relaxing poolside or taking to the winding country roads visiting the local attractions will be the biggest decision to make during your stay, or why not do both :).
- At the end of the day, dinner for two on the terrace watching the sunset slowly replaced by star-filled night sky, to the chorus of nature's night choir, with a bottle of the region's world class wine makes the day complete.
- A 5 Minute drive finds you in the village of Issigeac. Harking back to Roman times the village has acted as a hub for market activities since its conception. Sundays see the village streets being converted to a vibrant, bustling marketplace, a must see.
- The location makes it the perfect base for the more adventurous who are looking to explore this truly magnificent region. Aquitaine abounds with history, bastides, medieval villages, chateaux, river adventures, world-class vignerons, truffles, etc etc...

Introducing
Nathalie & Tim Cointault
Nathalie and Tim bought the property in October 2021 and have had a busy winter and spring bringing it up to scratch. They and their friendly spaniel live nearby and are on hand to help if you need them but will otherwise leave you in peace to enjoy your holiday.
A lovely hideway just for two, despite being on an estate with other properties. The view from the terrace, and the bedroom, is lovely - glorious sunsets over waving wheatfields, with donkeys in their field closer to hand.
