The Experience
It’s a few steps from your room to the pool, and shady seats dot the lawns for picnicking, or hiding away with a book. Rooms are in the ‘longère’, 300 years old and restored by Gilles from the same golden stone. Three rooms are on the ground floor, neat and cosy; two in the oak beamed eaves, with great views over the garden.
Garden lovers will not want to miss the stunning Manoir d’Eyrignac, a short drive away – a lovely four-hour walk through pasture and walnut orchards. Medieval Sarlat is 15 minutes by car and the incredible replica of the Lascaux caves just a bit further.
Breakfast changes daily; perhaps pancakes, clafoutis or waffles; and always homemade jams and yogurt. The table d’hôte begins with a poolside apéritif. Creative menus are all cooked by your hosts with vegetables freshly picked from the garden. Sit back with a glass of local wine and soak in the last rays of evening sun.

We cannot praise Les Granges Hautes enough. The accommodation and location are both beautiful, Anouk and Gilles are the most wonderful hosts and their cooking is divine. This really is a piece of heaven and we cannot wait to return.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were made to feel incredibly welcome by our lovely hosts, Anouk and Gilles. The whole property has been well thought out. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, the gardens are large, well designed and maintained and the pool area, with a large pool for the size of the property, is so relaxing. Anouk's cooking is first class and the evenings are always a joy. We would not hesitate to return to the area and definitely to Les Granges Hautes.

Enchanting stay! The accommodation is large, well designed and very clean. The bedding is very good. The estate is beautiful, especially the huge garden. Dinner and breakfast are delicious, and really cheap. And above all the hosts are awesome. We highly recommend.

I'd love to have a great day out, visiting Lascaux and one of the wonderful nearby gardens, before returning to enjoy apéros by the pool and Anouk's cooking - supervised by Lilou, of course - before sinking into a comfy bed in one of the delightful rooms. Hard to choose which one: Russian themed 'Eugenie', vintage style 'Constance' , chicken themed 'Victoria' or pretty atticky upstairs.

Location
The neighbourhood
On a quiet lane in the pretty village of Saint-Crépin-et-Carlucet, the house and garden are cleverly screened from the few neighbours. Well-marked trails for walking and cycling lead out into the surrounding countryside. For stocking up, time your visit to Salignac-Eyvigues, 5km, for the Tuesday market. The closest train station is in Sarlat.
Local points of interest from Anouk & Gilles Roche
- A few nights a week, you can enjoy the dinner that Anouk has prepared with passion. It will be served on the terrace by the pool if the weather is good. Otherwise, you can enjoy it in our beautiful and warm restaurant room.
- In the heart of our one hectare park that Gilles maintains with passion, you will be able to recharge your batteries by strolling, reading a book in the shade of a tree or by the pool, comfortably installed on a deckchair
- Ideally located, because of its central position, in Les Granges Hautes, you will be less than 30 minutes away from all the jewels of the Périgord Noir. The city of Sarlat, remarkable for its density of historical monuments, is only 10 kilometers away.
- This is the perfect place for history lovers. It is said that the Dordogne is home to more than 1000 castles and there are many prehistoric sites: caves including the famous Lascaux, theme parks and museums.
- In the valley of the Dordogne or the one of the Vézère, wilder, you will stroll in the heart of medieval villages classified "most beautiful villages of France". Wonderful gardens are also waiting for you to surprise you with their beauty.
- If you want to take advantage of your vacation to do sports, the surroundings are also made for you: golf, biking, hiking, canoeing, tree climbing, via ferrata, gyropode, quad, hot air balloon, are the many activities available.

Introducing
Anouk & Gilles Roche
Owners Anouk and Gilles came to the Dordogne to set up this B&B - Gilles, who worked in construction masterminded the renovations, adding B&B rooms, the gîtes and building the little restaurant they now run. They love their life here and you can expect a generous welcome. Lilou, their cat, is also very friendly and likes to introduce herself to all the guests at suppertime.
From the moment we arrived at Les Granges-Haut we knew we had chosen the right place. Anouk and Gilles welcome you with their relaxed and friendly manner and speak far better English than our French. Gilles mixed up his secret cocktails before we moved to our table for dinner. Anouk’s love of cooking and her skill results in the most delicious food so don’t deprive your taste buds by going elsewhere. Take a walk around the garden and breathe in well-being, it’s all around you.
