The Experience

There’s a warm, easy-going atmosphere here and you breakfast well on homemade jams, eggs from the owners’ hens, fresh breads and pastries, ham and cheese if you want something heftier. Bedrooms are spacious, three have a covered balcony for a sundowner looking over the garden, two share a spiral staircase to a smart bathroom.

There is a salon for guests with a library, board games and TV, plenty of places to sit and read a book or plan your next adventure. Head straight off from Le Moulin on foot or on horseback – there are stables at the end of the drive; or take the kids canoeing on the Lot, or zip-wiring at the tree-top adventure park. Here you can swim in the pool and take walks along the paths in the park.

Dinner is a treat with plenty of vegan and vegetarian choices, alongside organic meat and fish, vegetables and fruits from the garden, risottos, pies, and Virginie’s gorgeous desserts – don’t miss her Moelleux au chocolat.

Reviews

How peaceful! Virginie and Fabrice welcome you in their haven of tranquillity, and will feed you extremely well. Do dine in if you can! The food is local (or from their own garden) and seasonal. Bedrooms are elegant and spacious, all with calming views. Wander through the domaine's paths, past the animals, the wildflowers and the river bank. Idyllic.

Location

The neighbourhood

Historically and culturally rich, with the markets, festivals and restaurants of bastide towns like Villeréal and Monflanquin (both about 10 minutes' drive); and castles, many wine-producing, some simply stunning, like Château de Biron (20 minutes). It's 35 minutes to the waler-lily gardens that inspired Monet. Castelnaud golf course, and the Parc en Ciel Adventure Park are within 30.

Introducing

Virginie Froment

Virginie and Fabrice, who met in Guadeloupe, have worked with guests for years - he in restaurants and she in management. They had their own restaurant in Charente then worked in another in Tarn. They took over this place in 2022 and as well as looking after guests very well, they have planted over 200 trees, they practise permaculture and encourage bees. They plan to have solar panels.
