The Experience

Beneath the bell tower of Cosne sur Loire’s historic church, five characterful B&B rooms in an old Benedictine priory. Surrounded by tranquil gardens, the handsome stone building stands on the banks of the Loire, within walking distance of the town’s restaurants, and a cycle ride from Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé vineyards. Bedrooms are spacious and colourful, with river or courtyard views, and immaculate en-suite shower rooms. A continental breakfast, including local goat’s cheese and ham, is served at a large wooden table in the light-filled dining room or in the garden. Take a dip in the heated pool or explore local châteaux.

Gilles and Nicole welcome you into their beautiful home . The bedrooms are so comfortable and there is a delightful sitting room for guests to use.The house is very central in the town and yet it is so peaceful, set behind a wall. There is a beautiful garden overlooking the Loire river and a swimming pool. The breakfasts are delicious ,full of treats from the region. This is definitely our favourite B&B and we highly recommend it to you.

This is certainly a very special place to stay - a beautiful house, gorgeous rooms, lovely garden going down to the Loire, delicious breakfast and charming owners. There is also a stylish and comfortable guest sitting room and excellent facilities in general. We loved everything about it and would recommend it highly. Thank you!

This is an exceptional establishment. Every room is a joy with beautiful furnishings and stunning artwork. We stayed in spacious Chambre Prune which had superb views over the pool/garden to the River Loire. Gilles was a charming host with impeccable English and was kind enough to let us use his garage for our open top sports car. The guest's kitchen permitted ready access to a superior selection of tea/coffee and even Sancerre in the fridge! Breakfast did not disappoint - exquisitely arranged and executed with freshly squeezed orange juice and fruit in plentiful supply. Luxury!

We stayed for 1 night on our way back to England. This is one of the best B&B's we have stayed in. Spacious, comfortable, great location and interesting. Monsieur and Madame Cegretin were delightful hosts and extremely helpful. We hope to return for a longer stay to explore this area some more.

Annabel, Rutland

We stayed for just one night in this charming, grand French house with interesting artefacts from around the world and wonderful views of the Loire and Sancerre in the distance. Sumptuous beds and bedding, genteel hosts and a delightful breakfast await you; we would definitely recommend it :-)

Caroline

We stayed 4 nights in the spacious Chambre de Clocher, which was very tastefully furnished with a wonderfully comfortable bed and amazingly, a decent piano which was very playable! The garden has a lovely view of the Loire and is very near an open air riverside dance area where they play traditional French music on Sundays. It feels very unique to be able to spend time in such a historic building.

Another great find. A very warm welcome, a lovely spacious and characterful room with a view straight down to the Loire. Really enjoyed the swimming pool and the masses of books available to peruse. Could easily have stayed for a very long time! Nice touches such as drinks/biscuits available for guests to help themselves. Husband enjoyed sampling the various keyboards around the house as well! We ate well in the town (Le Square) but the final sentence of this review should be given to the fantastic breakfast - fruit, yoghurts, croissants, bread, brioche and all those superb jams!
