Sisters Florence and Aude have taken over the old family winery and transformed it into lovely places to stay. Families will thrive here – children can tear about safely on swings and slides in the garden, splash in the pool or frolic in the large gardens, perhaps making friends. Your apartment, on one floor, is roomy and restful with a private terrace for al fresco meals and a Weber barbecue for long summer evenings.

You’re deep in good wine territory so open a bottle of something local to get your holiday feeling off to a cracking start. You’ll find a decent kitchen with all you need for cooking and you can walk to the village boulangerie for your morning croissants and baguettes. There’s a super grocery shop here too.

Walks are sublime, you can be collected by bicycle for a wine tour and there are some excellent restaurants nearby. On Wednesdays visit the market at Lézignan-Corbières to pick up lots of local food.
