The Experience
Breakfast in the orangery on blinis, crêpes and French toast, with the doors flung open to the terraced garden in summer. Olga, your host, loves to cook and dinners are typically French; rabbit stew with piperade, truffled potatoes, tarte tatin all served with the local wine.
This house is lost in time, barely changed since it was built. The charming 19th-century terraced garden is the star, filled with exuberant foliage. Seek out half-hidden nooks and the heated swimming pool. Cosy rooms are full of light, facing south over the valley. Watch deer drinking from the spring from your private sitting room in the early hours.
The many stunning châteaux of the Loire are a short drive, or hire electric bikes to explore nearby vineyards for tastings of the local Sauvignon Blanc and Romorantin. Though that might not tempt you away from an afternoon in a romantic spot on the terrace, sipping a Kir Royale under an ancient elm.

It's rare to find a property like this that has not changed much in one hundred years. The house has miraculously been spared overly-zealous renovations and so there is an air of sleepy beauty pervading the place. One could be tempted to grab a glass of the delicious sauvignon, a copy of Proust and disappear into the garden for the afternoon. The famous chateaux of the Loire nearby can wait!

Introducing
Olivier & Olga
Chatty Olga and her husband Olivier live on site and welcome you enthusiastically to their charming home. They are keen to preserve its charm, seeking out just the right 19th-century furniture and painting for each room. Olga, a photographer, is an excellent cook and makes everything herself, from indulgent dinners to elaborate cakes.
We loved our stay here after a difficult drive from Lille. Even though we arrived very late - 11pm - Olivier was welcoming and even gave us a packet of biscuits in case we were hungry. We had a little suite with two bathrooms which I loved - all very comfortable and furnished in antiques with interesting pictures everywhere. Breakfast was great, although a choice of fruit juice would have been nice, and suppers were superb. Olga is a great cook and Olivier chooses lovely wines. In short it was wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable.
