The Experience
The former summer house of a Russian composer cuts a dash above glamorous Cannes. Set on the ground floor, everything about this 1900s apartment pleases the eye, from the big airy interiors to the courtyard garden. Step down from the conservatory and sit peacefully in the sun.
Apart from forays out of town, you can pretty much forget the car. A five-minute stroll downhill brings you to local restaurants and small shops, while the enticing stores of the famous Rue d’Antibes are walking distance too.
Check out the super-yachts in the harbour; browse the Marché Forville for pre-lunch nibbles. And don’t miss an evening stroll down Bvd. La Croisette, one of the Riviera’s most delightful promenades. Return home to immaculate beds, soft subtle colours, and elegant early 1900s windows, doors and parquet. It’s a beautiful escape for a party of four.

Location
The neighbourhood
People value their privacy in the hills above Cannes. In the exclusive residential district of Californie Pézou, all is discretion and calm. Within walking distance (5-25 minutes) you have shops, bars, restaurants, and Palm Beach, where the locals go to escape La Croisette's crowds. There's street parking for your car and the public transport is good: the no. 200 bus whisks you to the station.
Introducing
Anders Ripa
Anders is a lawyer and former Swedish Consul General in Nice, and he and his wife Helen are both warm-hearted and sociable. They have lived in Provence for 30 years and have a genuine love and understanding of their adopted home. They have four children who were brought up in the area and an assortment of grandchildren. Helen has green fingers and is a committed gardener and gardening consultant, growing everything from sweet peppers and herbs to flowering plants.
Cannes with its cycle of conferences, festivals, busy bars, shops and tourists can feel a bit overwhelming so it's nice to find this calm, sophisticated apartment in the hills above the town. I loved the huge octagonal living room with a real fire and dining area which leads into a conservatory - lots of space and light and high ceilings that would be great for someone hoping to do some painting.
