The Experience
All the pleasures of a Slow holiday in Italy. A quiet hilltop village in the Cilento National Park; a beautiful house hugged by olives, figs, flowers; a local restaurant (special deal for guests) serving regional wines; a ‘via verde’ through the stunning scenery of Torchiara. Angela has rebuilt an old family home rich in history in a traditional style. Casa Bassa (the old olive press) has country-style rooms in the landscape’s warm browns and bright yellow-greens. Casa Alta (on the terrace above) holds more bedrooms, a large, fire-warmed sitting room, a small library, a dining room with country antiques, a small tower for reading and reflection. Unwind in the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, or book a massage. Outside, a swimming pool in southern Italian sunshine, a wellness hut with gym and views stretching over forested hills. Feisty Angela knows the area’s best spots while Michaela looks after guests with homemade cakes and a warm smile. It’s a seven-minute drive to Agropoli for blue flag beaches and near to Palinuro, Amalfi and Positano. If archaeology is your thing, head for Paestum, Velia, Pompeii and Ercolano. Enchanting, carefree, delightfully Slow.

Peaceful setting and well located (you can walk to a restaurant in Torchiara where the food is terrific and almost embarrasingly cheap!). Lots of advice and information from Angela on where to visit. In easy range of great coastal walks and swimming spots. Paestum is a winner - deserves to be much better known. Michaela's version of Panzanella (known locally by a different name) is magnificent!

The neighbourhood
Local points of interest from Angela Rosa Maria Riccio
- A place of myths and legends, Cilento (UNESCO) was created from a mixture of different cultures coming in over the centuries: Greek, Roman, French & Spanish. Borgo Riccio organizes tours by car and by boat to discover its varied heritage.
- Borgo Riccio is just a few minutes' drive from the sea of Agropoli with its beaches of unrivaled beauty. The owners of Borgoriccio, Angela and Albert, have a boat that is waiting for you to go to P.Licosa or to Trentova's Bay, which has a Blue Flag.
- Paestum, its temples still intact after 2500 years, is only a 15 minute drive away. Seeing the archaeological area with the temples of Neptune is an incredible experience. Half an hour away is Velia, an archeological site built in 540 BC.
- Castellabate, which dominates the stretch of coastline from its lofty position at 280 metres, is 15 minutes from Borgoriccio. It's a lovely castle built in 1123, and its beautiful square makes it a very romantic trip!
- A boat tour to Palinuro and the Capo is not to be missed. and we can organize for you a wonderful tour to see the caves - the most famous is Grotta Azzurra. Then swim in the natural port of Baia Infreschi, the Roman frigidarium.
- We have an exclusive Wellbeing Area with a jacuzzi bat, sauna and chromotherapy, and a fitness area with tapirulant, exercises bikes and a high-tech gym. We can provide massages and beauty treatments on request. Enjoy the exclusive access to the Relax Area

Lovely place to stay. Angela, the hostess, was very helpful in advising us about our plans for travelling around the area and made some very good recommendations. Restaurants for evening meals were within easy walking distance but up a steep hill; still returning was downhill! Just beware that on Monday evening the restaurants within walking distance were closed but we were at the end of the season.
