The Experience
Cool – in both senses of the word. Metre-thick walls give the whole place that delicious damp-ancient smell, a constant reminder that you are staying in a 14th-century monastery. Architect Lea, and Massimo, lovely people, have revived the ruin after 100 years of abandonment; its topsy-turvy layout is intriguing, the kind of place that cries out to be explored the moment you duck under the archway. Gorgeous bedrooms have exposed brickwork, terracotta floors, balconies and super beds with curly-whirly headboards – and heaps of individual touches: dividing the bedrooms of one suite is the ‘window’ of a confessional unearthed during the restoration. The terraces, the numerous steps and the blue views will leave you giddy; sink into a cushioned wicker sofa and toast the beauty with a lovely glass of the local greco. This is a place that won’t play on your eco conscience either; they’ve won awards for their green efforts. Potter around exquisite, car-free Pisciotta, scramble down through the olive groves to the harbour, visit the famous grottos. New to us, but a favourite already.

Stunning! We loved it so much we cancelled one of the hotels on our trip and came back for another two days. The hotel is exquisite, the views from the terrace to die for and the hosts Massimo and Lea fantastic! If you want quiet, untouristy, beautiful, with fantastic service then this is the place for you!

Delightful Hotel in an ancient hill-top village with a spectacular terrace overlooking the marina several hundred metres below. Nothing was too much for the owners who arranged parking, restaurants and excursions for us, as well a cold drinks at all hours. Access is through a maze of narrow streets, so not good for the disabled. The beach, with bars and restaurants, is an easy walk down hill, a bit harder coming up though. Even in mid August nothing was over crowded, and mostly populated by discerning Italians. Strongly recommended, we loved it and will go again.

This is indeed a special place. Lea and Massimo could not have been more attentive hosts and we felt very privileged to spend 10 days in this beautiful village and to be so welcome. Wonderful swimming, excellent food and wine and in the Marulivo a real haven from the bustling village.

Location
What an amazing find from Sawday's ! A wonderful, special place high up above the Marina, watch the most wonderful sunsets from the terrace with a glass of Campari to hand and a meal in Pisciotta to look to follow. Our charming hosts Massimo and Lea were so kind and helpful, recommending where we might eat, booking tables and arranging transport to and from the restaurants when needed. The village of Pisciotta is delightful, full of history, narrow streets, bars and restaurants. A wonderful place that we would love to keep to ourselves but know that others would love it too!
