The Experience

Everything here is genuine and beautiful, from the family’s mission to share it with like-minded guests to the well-tended cows on the farm. Love and art inhabit Liguria’s first straw-bale house, its relaxed interior of warm colours and family antiques, and the organic farm. Marco, who loves his cows like babies, Francesca, who has a bee-keeper’s calm, and their three sons are united in their enthusiasm, each with his/her own passion – a rare family. The dining room, terrace and outdoor corners are the public spaces, views flow out across the silent hilltops, you shower in rainwater. Bedrooms, two of them sharing a terrace, have personality, antique chandeliers and Francesca’s mother’s paintings. The two apartments – the all-in-one-room Gnome’s Grotto for two, built into the rock face and protected by a vast horizontal oak, and Melo for four – have simple galley kitchens and the same great atmosphere. Walk into the hills to swim in natural ponds or take the car to explore the coast then return to Marco’s delicious, all-natural dinner (they ran a restaurant), much of it grown and made on the spot.

Reviews

I’m happy to give a positive opinion about this agriturismo. The rooms, the breakfast, the dinner, the cheese made by the owner, Marco, the homemade pasta, bread and jams. In his presentation of various dishes, Sergio, one of the owners’s son impressed us with his enthusiasm and gratefulness for his father’s mastery in the kitchen. The owners are always available to answer your questions or offer suggestions about walking itineraries. Sleeping in a straw-bale house, in a place where the concept of green and sustainable building is very important and represents an added value of confort

Francesca's family agriturismo is wonderful. Peaceful, in beautiful countryside, and the whole family so friendly and welcoming. They made our stay very special and very relaxed at the same time. The food was incredible (made by Francesca's husband), as was the wine (son, Sergio is a top sommelier) and knowing the stories behind it all made it even more memorable. We also had a massage treatment from Simone which was very good.

Local points of interest from Francesca Boreanaz

  • The most important thing when you come here is surely enjoy our incredible cuisine based on products of our REAL organic farm and on mastery of our incredible good chef/"cow boy"/cheesemaker Marco. Eno-gastronomic experience not to be missed.
  • Get to know "The Cheese Path": make friends with our free and happy Cabannine cows (Slow Food), watch Marco cuddling and milking them every morning, follow them to pastures, discover the "secrets" of the production of cheese and finally savor it!
  • Follow Francesca in the gardens and listen to its natural farming life experience. Take advice of excellent natural wines, wisely selected by the now expert Sergio. Enjoy an energy-balancing treatment or a Tui-Na massage with the naturopath Simone.
  • Take a dip in a fascinating and mysterious bend in the clean river Vara, 15 minutes away from our farm, surrounded by woods. Later, enjoy the valley and the breathtaking views from the High Way of the Ligurian Mountains, Mount Gottero and Mount San Nicolao
  • Take a few days to stroll in the Park of 5 Terre and visit the famous maritime villages (Unesco heritage) that belong to it. Appreciate them also from the sea by boat or from the top of our hills and, if you can, reach the exclusive Portofino.
  • 40 minutes far from the farm you can reach some of the most beautiful Ligurian beaches. Lerici, Monterosso, Bonassola, Framura, Levanto, the "Baia del Silenzio" in Sestri Levante (especially at night). Then Zoagli, Camogli, Bogliasco, San Fruttuoso....
