The Experience

Lovely British Italian couple Dani and Giulio have made their B&B dream come true in a spectacular setting – from painstaking restoration of a tumbledown villa to being voted top green B&B in Italy. Winding roads and steep drops on the way up are part of your adventure, so take it steady. It’s well worth it – feast your eyes on views of Lake Como from the limonaia conservatory or from a sunbed on the terrace. Suites on the first floor are reached by lift or steps, while outside stairs lead to rooms on the top two floors – ‘deluxe’ for a balcony with full-on lake view, such as the gorgeous ‘Olivo’, or ‘classic’ with balcony at the side. All have crisp white linen, firm mattresses and simple wooden furniture, handmade by talented Giulio; solar panels provide most of the power. Dani’s parents help out when needed (Audrey is the villa’s Mary Berry). Bring your dog if you like – your animal-loving hosts keep all sorts from turtles to mini goats, plus friendly dogs and cats. And if you ever tire of the view, there’s a gym and sauna, bikes to borrow, hills to hike, and boats to catch on the lake – just ask Dani for advice.
