The Experience

As you drive down the hill the landscape reveals itself – the setting is magical. Tucked into a quiet hillside, this place feels miles away from civilisation but the village is a short hop and Alla Selva’s welcome is warm.

Rebuilt on the ruins of an old barn, the villa is surrounded by woodland – if you’re up early, you might see deer wander through the garden. Elegantly rustic, the stone-walled house has a vine-draped pergola next to a spacious terrace and a sun-soaked pool. The comfortable bedrooms are bright and sunny, with two en suite bathrooms and one shared. There are squishy sofas everywhere and plenty of books and board games.

The kitchen is big enough for a dance party and fully equipped with all the bells and whistles to satisfy the most demanding of chefs – and if that’s not you, the lovely housekeeper Luciana can deliver amazing home-cooked meals.

Reviews

Having stayed here with my cousin and Michele and Rosemary last October, I found the Villa immediately welcoming, easy to feel at home, providing everything one may need for a special stay. There is so much room to be on your own, curled up with a book on one of the comfiest sofas ever, and then easily drift into the kitchen at supper time to lend a hand with the cooking. Most relaxing.

Porto San Giorgio on the Adriatic coast (45 mins) has a Blue Flag beach and restaurants serving local specialities, including garagoli – sea snails in a spicy broth.
