The Experience

The farm is small, delightful and organic, the coast is a short drive, and you can walk to simple cafés, restaurant and museum. But the star here is Europe’s largest active volcano… there are great views of Mount Etna from the orchard. Come for organised treks to the crater, skiing in winter, walking the rest of the year. Back at the farm is Cesare, generous and delightful. His wife is a teacher; the family is multi-lingual and well-travelled. This is a lovely set up for a family stay, with gardens to run around in, hammocks slung between walnut trees, a guest kitchen in which to rustle up a meal, and two friendly labs to stroke. You can also self-cater, in the characterful old casita dedicated to Pippinitto, the farmer who once lived here with his family and donkey. Expect new mattresses and good linen, en suite showers, wood-burning stoves; the décor, complimented by chunky country beams and old terracotta, is simple, modern and comfortable throughout. As you’d expect, Cesare’s breakfasts are plentiful and delicious – warm rolls, yogurts, home-grown fruits, cakes and jams – served at small wooden tables in a lovely airy room.

Reviews

Our family had a wonderful time staying at La Casa di Pippinitto. Cesare is delightful, offering great tips (including a fabulous restaurant in town and the gorgeous hillside village where the Godfather was filmed), and the setting is charming. Breakfasts are just incredible - heavenly homegrown orange juice, the most amazing rocket and nut salad with fresh ricotta, scrumptious omelettes, fabulous homemade jams and honey... the list goes on. The rooms are spacious and comfy, with lots of lovely pottery about. It's also excellent value.

La Casa di Pippinitto is an exceptionally beautiful place: birds singing, views of the ocean over lemon trees full of fruit and in the other direction, Mt. Etna. Add to this glorious setting a very comfortable, spacious and clean room with a large attached bathroom, plenty of outdoor space to relax and take in the fresh air and views, and an amazing breakfast, served up by gracious Cesare, who is always available. Be sure to book the guided small group tour of Mt. Etna with local geologist Carmelo (recommended by Cesare) - it was the highlight of our Sicily trip. We shall return!

We saw many wonderful things during our week on the east coast of Sicily but the real star was La Casa di Pippinitto, hosted with relaxed generosity by Cesare. The rooms are spacious, characterful and clean, the air heavily scented with orange blossom and we woke each day in eager anticipation of the glorious breakfasts! Leave space in your itinerary for relaxing in this lovely setting.

This was a very nourishing guesthouse experience. The room was spacious, clean & lovely. The vista of the surronding farm was quiet & relaxing. The included breakfast was exceptionally good (the best that we had in the whole of Sicily). It was a great base from which to visit the summit of Mount Etna (only a half hour drive) & also the stunning amphitheatre in Taormina. The Guesthouse owner, Ceasar, was a particularly genial, thoughtful, helpful & interesting person. Had we had more time in Sicily, it would have been lovely to have returned & stayed longer.

Brilliant B and B: wonderful, fresh, plentiful breakfasts, beautiful setting in a genuine working lemon farm, simple and clean apartment with beautiful ceramic tiles! And helpful host. We used this as a base to explore various local cities rather than a place to stay in all day. Cesare was also very helpful with our young baby.

I’m not sure anything really prepared us for how lovely La Casa di Pippinitto and Cesare, the owner, would be. From the bountiful, delicious, breakfasts Cesare serves, to the beautiful hills full of orange and olive trees, we loved staying here. It was also the perfect place to stay with our 2 year old: closed off from the road, with lots to explore, and a friendly dog, too. Not only that, but it’s in a great location: close to Mt. Etna, Giardini-Naxos (for the beach), and Catania, and not too far from Siracusa too. We’ve been home abou a day now, and all want to go back soon.

Beautiful and tranquil farm, bursting with fruits and flowers. Nice, rustic design and well kitted out. The kitchen and store of beverages and local produce were very useful. Cesare was a relaxed and generous host and accommodated all of our needs! Would definitely go again for the accommodation and the area, which is close to the coast, Etna and towns.

La Casa di Pippinitto is indeed a delightful place! Our stay was for just two days in April 2016, but it was a real treat, as Cesare is a wonderful host. The farm is easy to get to - less than an hour from Catania airport. The setting is quiet and peaceful, with the orchard bursting with citrus and all kinds of nuts. Breakfast was fresh, tasty and plentiful. Dinner was great too, with Cesare using local produce to whip up a generous and varied vegetarian meal for us.

Peaceful and tranquil setting with fantastic views of Etna from the orchard. The warm and relaxed welcome set the tone for the rest of our stay. The location seems off the beaten track at first, but it's within easy access to all the main routes. The owner (Cesare) is happy to share his great knowledge of the area to help you plan your stay. And the breakfasts are gorgeous! Definitely a place we'd come back to.

Restful, beautiful, well run, and welcoming. Would recommend for short or long stay. Breakfasts amazing. Off beaten track but easy to reach other areas from, and close to airport.will definitely choose to stay again.lovely location, on beautiful farm, very peaceful . Owner always on hand to help but not intrusive. Ten out of ten!

Kay

Arriving three hours late owing to a flight diversion caused by bad weather, Cesare proved to be an excellent host and did everything he could to make our stay enjoyable, even offering to meet us in the town to escort us to his B & B Breakfasts were excellent and the location ideal for visiting the local attractions. Well up to Sawday standard.
