The Experience
You’ll reach the relaxed residenza via the small lift or the wide stone stairs, then come and go as you please – you’ll be welcomed by Alessia and Daniele. It’s a treat to come back to a decanter of Vin Santo and a book of love stories by your bed. Romantics could ask for a four-poster bed or a jasmine-scented balcony, but all rooms have lovely fabrics woven by local artisans, sofas, silk curtains and little vases of dried lavender.
Black and white 19th-century prints and antique tiled floors combine beautifully with waffle towels and walk-in showers, and satellite TV: the best of old and new. There is free WiFi and air conditioning, so settle down in the sitting room, dip into almond biscuits and a cup of tea and plan where to have dinner; all the info’s there.
Find a 24-hour snack and beverage room downstairs, you are on a quietish street near the university and it’s great value for the centre of Florence.

Location
The neighbourhood
Monumental palazzi line the street. The 19th century building is located in one of the most important historic streets of Florence. The area is quiet and elegant, near Piazza San Marco. You'll find many authentic trattorias and restaurants, small shops and artisan workshops in this lively, non-touristy neighbourhood. It's a 10-minute walk to the Duomo and 20 minutes to the Ponte Vecchio bridge.

Introducing
Alessia Spinelli
Alessia and Daniele are an enthusiastic young couple with backgrounds in tourism who have just taken over the reins from the original owners and aim to look after you very well indeed. They're a mine of information about what to do and where to go, so do ask.
We enjoyed this charming B&B, furnished and decorated in 'country house' style, centrally situated yet away from the very crowded tourist landmarks of the city on a quiet street. Better still is to have as we did, a room at the rear of the property which is even more peaceful. We would have liked to view the neighbouring B&B Anica Dimora Johlea, too - it is under the same ownership and has a roof garden. The staff were very helpful and pleasant with restaurant suggestions and reservations and we received details of nearby parking in advance of our visit.
