The Experience
Wind through olive groves and woods to reach this tiny hamlet, a rambling medieval Borgo on many levels, whose nucleus is a castle around which workers’ cottages have evolved. Leave the car outside the walls and enter another world; the Liscis may own 250 hectares of vineyards and produce a number of important red wines but no-one is in a hurry here.
The apartments will charm: large fireplaces, vaulted ceilings, terracotta floors with modern kitchens and bathrooms. This is a ‘living’ Borgo with 32 permanent residents and also a zero carbon space with a state of the art Bio-Energy methane production facility – one of the first in Italy.
Views are delightful, you can cool off in the pool or find a shady spot in the gardens with a book. The restaurant in the village serves traditional Tuscan dishes following the Ginori Lisci family’s old recipes; you can order fresh bread at reception and buy locally grown farm veg twice a week.

Location
The neighbourhood
Take a tour of the village to taste their own olive oil and wines, both red and white, and to learn a little more about the history. In the Borgo you'll find a small shop which sells basics and there is a 'man in a van' who delivers food twice a week during the season. Eat either in the Borgo, a Tuscan style menu, or in the village of Ponteginori, 7kms. Marina di Cecina and the coast are 20kms.
Local points of interest from Cristina Sannazzaro
- Querceto is the perfect place for nature lovers and for those who are interested in visiting famous Tuscan cities and towns such as Pisa, Florence, Siena, Volterra, San Gimignano, Bolgheri and other charming villages of the Val di Cecina.
- For those who love the sea, the beaches of Cecina and Bibbona are only 25 minutes away.
- In summer towns around Querceto hold various festivals and events; moreover a varied program of art exhibitions, concerts, shows and cultural courses are organized at Querceto by our family and by Accademia Libera & Natura.
- Querceto is also the heart of the vineyard of our family. Our guests will be conducted in a short and pleasant walk along the hamlet discovering the history of the castle and visiting the places where the wine production takes place.

Introducing
Cristina Sannazzaro
Cristina is a descendant of the Ginori family who have owned and run the 250-hectare estate since 1534 and produce their own excellent wines (red and white), olive oil and grain. Her love, care and dedication to this wonderful place is palpable and totally sincere. She is based at 'Il Querceto' during the season and otherwise lives in Florence. She is on hand to help and advise.
Il Quercetto is imbued with the essence of pure Toscana: inspiring vistas on all sides of golden rolling hills with olive groves, vine yards, forested hill tops with the occasional settlements and farmhouses punctuating the blissful scene. The location is like a movie set, but better because it is real and true. One can feel its deep history in the stones and the bricks, yet is fully alive and vibrant. The accommodation is composed of elegant, spacious and tastefully appointed apartments with a host of original features. If you're looking to truly unwind this is the place for you.
