The Experience
With sustainability at its caring heart, I Pini is all about connecting with nature and promoting well-being. Come to get away from hustle and immerse yourself in the informality and beauty of the farm; see organic growing and permaculture in action; taste the fresh herbs; join the grape harvest; talk to staff happy to explain their philosophy and produce.
Calm, uncluttered bedrooms are extremely comfortable and everyone gathers in the lofty, friendly dining room – the only spot with WiFi – with its bar and doors onto the pool patio. Of course meals are home-made, home-grown, vegan and organic. Dinners are amazing; candlelit, 4-course affairs to linger over; conjured from the day’s garden best, served with spicy preserves, raw vegan cheeses – and sweet things. And you can lunch too. Florence and Siena are an hour away.

I loved the immediate sense of calm upon arriving. Unplug, as wifi and devices are not the norm. Nibbling on salt-bush and electric daisies in the permaculture garden while looking over to the medieval towers of San Gimignano is a unique experience. The satisfying vegan meals are prepared with love and creativity. The kind staff cares for your well-being. At I Pini you connect with nature.

Location
The neighbourhood
A 20-minute walk, only 1.5km, but a world away from lovely, busy San Gimignano. The bumpy lane to I Pini leads away from crowds to this old farm, its olive groves, vineyards and views of medieval tower tops. This is hiking and biking country; tours, wine tastings and cookery courses can be arranged. It’s 12km to charming, watery Colle Val D’Elsa. Guests eat mostly at I Pini but there’s a vegan bistro in Volterra, a scenic 40-minute drive away
Local points of interest from Francesca Posch
- During your stay with us you will enjoy our organic and vegan cuisine. Half-board is included with the accommodation which comprises of a natural breakfast and a seed to table dinner.
- Agrivilla I Pini is a medieval farmhouse and winery. Here we give life to harmonious natural and vegan wines that represent and respect the local terroir. We will be happy to tell you more about natural winemaking.
- Our elegant and meditative atmosphere allows guests to rest and replenish. Peruse the library full of books about sustainability, spirituality and travel. Lounge by the saltwater pool and soak in the nourishing rays of the sun.
- We are situated on 14 hectares of land - You are welcome to stroll through our olive groves, vineyards and herbal and permaculture gardens.
- We are passionate about artisanal, handmade items. Our 11 rooms are luxurious yet rustic, refined yet minimalistic: handwoven linen, organic cotton, antique furniture, natural mattresses and handmade terracotta floor tiles.
- We are ideally situated in the centre of Tuscany and many popular destinations such as Siena, Florence, Volterra, Chianti and Pisa are close-by.

Introducing
Francesca Posch
Francesca and Benjamin are born and bred hoteliers - this spot is a delightful marriage of their experience and passions. The hotel has always been in the family but they have transformed it into Italy’s first vegan hotel and done so beautifully. You’ll only notice the friendly staff are there if you need them.
We had the most heavenly 4-night stay at I Pini. The food was always an event and we would look forward to every meal. The rooms were beautiful and had so much texture and character. The entire site was so peaceful and tranquil and we had the most perfect afternoon having a picnic in the olive groves that was prepared for us by the staff. San Gimignano was a short, enjoyable walk from the villa and there are many walks in the area to take in Tuscan countryside. We would have happily stayed here for two weeks without growing tired of it.
