The Experience
Very much a happy, extended family affair. And, unusually, the Scquizzato’s ramblingly elegant, old farmhouse is in the middle of town – albeit a small one – its courtyard and big garden at the back. Ottorino looks after their nearby orchard (‘forgotten’ fruits a speciality), the land and the animals. His wife Michela looks after guests, is a sublime cook- try her seasonal, regional dishes – with homegrown produce, of course) and runs cookery courses. Daughters Elena and Giulia (architect and lawyer) live here too with their partners and take care of marketing. You breakfast at a happy assortment of small tables; dinners take place at one long one, the convivial heart of things, by the open fire and wood burner. You sleep in beamed and wooden floored rooms on a comfortable mix of antique and new beds, decked with stripes and checks (and there’s a lift, if stairs are a problem). Bathrooms are small and good. ‘Aunt’ Wilma’s colourful paintings everywhere add zing. You must arrange a meal in Piombino Dese and visit its magnificent Palladian Villa, Cornaro. Oh, and cycle the former Treviso-Ostiglia railway path…

A home away from home, in a beautiful country setting. Spotless clean rooms. Morning breakfasts were always a treat with fresh breads , home made jams , pastries and whatever else you fancied. Michela was the perfect host, always willing to help in places to visit and things to see. This place is second to none. Top of our list on our next visit.

A wonderful homely farmhouse where you can unwind and relax. We based ourselves here and took the train into Venice and other local towns. We enjoyed delicious home made breakfasts with fresh eggs from the hens and homemade cakes and jams. Michela is a charming hostess and spent ages with us planning our days. We booked a pasta cookery class with her, she's a true professional with a lovely, kind teaching style, great fun and totally yummy! Rooms are spotless and the outside courtyard and shady garden are perfect for a well earned rest. The station is a10 minutes easy walk away.

It was a very good stay, just for one night, the accommodation was very clean and comfortable, the hosts interested and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The location is great for exploring from, with Venice and Treviso reachable too. Breakfast was all locally sourced and the service was unhurried and seamless in every way.

Local points of interest from Michela Tasca
- Various reasons make Piombino Dese very special: the Palladian Villa (Unesco Heritage) Villa Cornaro in its centre is one of them. In Venice, Vicenza and the Veneto countryside, you will find the other magnificent villas and building designed by Palladio.
- Have a romantic walk along the medieval towns and walls of Asolo, Marostica, Noale, Cittadella. The province of Treviso and Padova are dotted with villages and castles and have a rich history of ladies, knights and prestigious medieval families.
- Venice, 40 minutes by train, is always a good idea, an unique city and many cities all in one: art, culture, history, people…simply get lost!
- Enjoy a day of local life in Castelfranco Veneto, the birthplace of Giorgione, town of merchants and artists. Have a walk along the porticos with shops and bars, enjoy the animated market on Tuesday and Friday, visit the Giorgione Museum.
- Explore the venetian countryside from another point of view: nature and water. Cycle, walk and navigate along the river Sile Natural Park, discovering birds and plants, watching the birth of the water from the ground and having a gourmet pic nic.
- Let's cook together! You can have a tour of the farm, picking fruits, vegetables and erbs and prepare dinner under the ancient magnolia with authentic venician recipes (including zabaione and tiramisu with our eggs) and local organic wines.

Wonderful 3 days in the most beautiful surroundings: Asolo etc. The entire area is essentially an open-air museum and you can stop anywhere. In the house you are well looked after (breakfast!) and well advised: even moving within the house because of our trip to Venice (!) was no problem.
