The Experience
There’s a mellow feel up here, only the storks are higher, and the views are stunning.
Stroll from your room across the worn-stoned courtyard for an excellent breakfast indoors, or out in the citrus grove: good coffee and fresh orange juice (when in season); home eggs any-which-way with local bread, cheeses, meats and cakes. Laura leads a friendly, skilful local team who care for guests and animals. Horse-lovers and riders will be in their element; yoga sessions are available too. And there’s advice on water sports, beaches and inland adventures.
Two of the suites have their own kitchen but you’ll want to eat out in Vejer – try Venta Pinto – and maybe head for Barbate port and its Michelin-starred El Campero restaurant. When it’s chilly there’ll be a fire in the big, beamy sitting room with its honesty bar; when it’s hot there’s shade down by the pool, and cooing doves. Linger late to listen to resident owls.

Our family stayed here for a week. We had a great time. The staff were very kind, friendly and helpful. The farm was beautiful and in striking distance of fun towns. Really would recommend and hope to go back soon!!!

A wonderful and relaxing place to spend time just lazing by the pool or exploring this amazing coastline. An old Spanish Cortijo, lovingly restored. The rooms comfortable, the staff super friendly and views out of this world. If you like animals then this is a must place to visit. My dog was treated like royalty and it took much to get her back into my car when leaving!

Location
The neighbourhood
It’s beautiful here, in a wildlife-rich area with just a few neighbouring farms. Wander the old coritjo’s well-kept paddocks and fields and meet animals great and small, from horses (ask about riding - and yoga) to chickens. On the opposite hill is the popular white village of Vejer - 7 minutes’ drive with shops, restaurants and tapas bars – below are salt marshes; beyond are wild Atlantic beaches
Local points of interest from Jason De Carteret
- Beautiful beaches are only 15 minutes drive from busy beach bar type areas to spectacular natural beaches with almost no people, we have it all.
- Amazing seafood restaurants adorn the coastal towns and you can buy your fish or squid to cook on the BBQ at the Cortijo, the choice is yours
- Vejer de la Frontera is only minutes away and is one of the most outstanding classic "White Hilltop" villages anywhere in Spain, it really does have everything from amazing squares, awesome cafes, beautiful views and great shopping
- Tariffa is only 30mins to the south and there you have one of the world's top kite-surfing and Windsurfing venues, even if you have no intention of doing it yourself it really is amazing to just go and marvel at these sports
- This is real Spain, you have small Venta's on almost every corner selling amazing locally produced food in places that or full of character and colourful decorations,
- If horses are your passion then you will love the Cortijo but more than that the whole area, we can advise on places or visit to the very top class of Spanish PRE horses, organise beach rides or evening horse shows

Introducing
Jason De Carteret
The De Carterets love this place, its exceptional atmosphere and setting and all the animals they care for, and want guests to feel the same. They come every month from busy lives based in London - Eva is a sports doctor; Jason develops solar farms in Africa - and have a great team looking after things in their absence. Since they took the reins here in 2016 much has been achieved, more is planned.
Cortijo El Indiviso Is indeed a very special place. With stunning views of Vejer, storks nesting high, horses grazing and abundant oranges/lemons in the trees, the Cortijo is a place to linger and contemplate. Situated perfectly in an unspoilt haven of Andalucia, this is a lovely place to be. The team is always ready to help with advice and tips Thank you Eva, Eva, Justin and the rest of the team for a lovely Cortijo stay. We will be back!
