The Experience
You’re less than half a mile from the main road to Aracena but you’re wrapped in serene greenery, and there are two friendly llamas peeking over the wall to greet you. Every room has large picture windows, light floods in and views over the gardens are sublime. Settle into the spacious living room, light the fire on chilly days, play games, choose a book from the library or treat yourselves to an in-house massage – there’s plenty of space for everyone to find their own spot.
Mostly you’ll be outdoors, surrounded by oak, chestnut and poplar, serenaded by hundreds of birds, dozing on a lounger, cooling off in the pool, plucking a lemon for your evening gin and tonic. The roomy kitchen has a fulsome welcome hamper and space for helpers – eat at the wooden table here or in the garden.
Well-turned-out bedrooms (two downstairs, five up) all have super views and en suite bathrooms with organic soaps and lotions. It’s spoiling here.

Dating back to 1890, The Olive Mill is located within Huelva's Sierra de Aracena Natural Reserve. This handsome, light-filled home has been wonderfully restored with the original olive press still in situ in the main hall. Jump into the pool, join a mushroom hunting tour, make friends with the donkeys, or just enjoy the solitude and fabulous surroundings. I would return in a heartbeat.
