The Experience
A short hop from the coast. Wend your way up to El Monte Bajo – private and quiet, yet far from remote. Warm terracotta tiles and pathways lead to a beautifully kept garden with figs, lemons, bougainvillea. Skip down the steps into your cheerful kitchen to find homely knick-knacks and plenty of mod cons. The feel is one of real Spanish character, luxury and comfort. The fourth bedroom is in its own little rustic bolthole – a taste of old time Spain.
You’ll find an outdoor kitchen with barbecue, sink and fridge and a lovely new shower here by the dreamy pool. Bedrooms are smart, white and modern with memory foam mattresses – a good night’s sleep guaranteed. Bathrooms are equally stylish: a sunken bathtub with coastline views and a mosaic of natural stone. Food and drink can be prepared for your arrival, or a welcome basket of goodies.
In cooler months the wood-burner will warm you and the pool can be heated.

Location
The neighbourhood
You're in a residential area on the outskirts of Nerja but the feel is very private, so high up and with stupendous views. Large palm trees sway and you can only hear birdsong and the odd croak of a frog from the pond. The beach is a 10-15 minute walk downhill and there are lovely sierras for serious hikers. Nerja has plenty of bars, shops and restaurants or you can visit Granada's Alhambra.
Local points of interest from Dan Bowers
- 3km down the beach from the former fishing village of Nerja, the ultimate in tranquility, 'vivir en un estado perpetual de paz & tranquilidad'

- Historic cities such as Sevilla & Granada within an hour or two drive. Local white washed villages close at hand such as Frigiliana, consistently voted one of the most beautiful pueblos in Spain.
- Shopping in Malaga, 45 minutes away, water sports , bicycle hire & tennis all available locally.

Introducing
Dan Bowers
Danny happened across El Monte Bajo and Al Ladino more than 20 years ago and loved them for their unspoilt views, tranquility, clean fresh air and positive energy. Since buying the houses he's been rebuilding and improving them, all whilst working to preserve their old-world Spanish character. José Antonio is the caretaker and the local contact during your stay, on hand for anything.
This is a perfect place for larger families or groups who want privacy and quiet whilst soaking up the all day sun, reading a book by the pool, pottering in the kitchen or lazing in bed and taking in the views. It´s very well equipped, tastefully decorated and has everything you need for a self catering stay.
