The Experience
Large windows and open rooms ooze calm in this curved 50s house. The kitchen/dining room is the hub, with seating for eight and plenty of space for helpers. All the kit you’ll find, including lots of recipe books, reflect the owner’s love of cooking and the generous hamper bulges with nice things for breakfast and a light supper too. Mostly you’ll be outdoors, chasing sun or shade, snoozing in a hammock or cooling off in the pool. Children can scamper safely and there’s another big table with very comfortable seats.
Bedrooms are spacious, all with lovely views and smart en suites, one with its own roof terrace for quiet mornings with a cup of tea listening to birdsong. It’s a five-minute walk uphill into Fornlutx, twice voted ‘the prettiest village in Spain’ with winding, cobbled streets and good restaurants. Take the tram to Sóller port for even more choice.
Come back to your little slice of paradise and feel happy to be here.

Location
The neighbourhood
It's a 20-minute drive to Deià, a village with strong literary and artistic connections – Robert Graves' house is now a museum – and there are buzzing cafés and restaurants as well as a picturesque cove for swimming. Further along is Valldemossa which has an outstanding monastery sitting in an evergreen valley – Chopin called it the 'most beautiful place in the world'. Palma is 35 minutes.
Local points of interest from Jenny Whiffen
- Wander up to the village for coffee and sourdough delights at Es Forn De Barri run by our neighbour Hugo, saunter home, lounge in our peaceful garden, sip a cocktail by the pool and watch the mountains turn pink as the sun sets.
- You're a 10 minute drive from the Port de Sóller so book a scuba dive from one of 5 dive schools, hire a catamaran/sailing -boat/self drive motor boat and explore the local coves and protected marine reserves.
- Walk straight from the front door to join many marked hikes(map books with suggested walks on tv room coffee table) or book a guided hike with Tramuntana Tours, the local experts for outdoor pursuits.
- Thrilling for adults and children alike, take the antique 'el tren de Sóller' down to Palma (50 minutes with stops) making time for a quick visit to the Miró and Picasso exhibition inside Sóller station.
- A 20 minute stroll down the hill is the local farmer's Co-operativo Sant Bartomeu brimming with locally grown fruit, vegetables, olive oil, wine, honey, salt and organic everything. Car park too if you decide to do a 'big shop'!
- Our family 'go to' with visitors is the Jardines de Alfábia. it's a Moorish estate with beautifully laid gardens (and 'soak the adults' secret fountain buttons), lovely cafe, small stately home and farm animals. Something for everyone!

Introducing
Jenny Whiffen
Jenny, who divides her time between Mallorca and the UK, is an actor – warm, cultured and charming. She bought the house many years ago and undertook a massive refurbishment – you can see a book of photos showing how it evolved. She's a passionate cook so you'll very much appreciate all the gear – including a blowtorch – in the kitchen. She's generously thought of everything to make your holiday splendid.
Beautiful house with stunning views of the Tramuntana Mountains. Ca’s Penelope is the perfect place for a family gathering. The bedrooms are large and comfortable and there’s plenty of space both inside and out. The kitchen is well equipped and the welcome pack was very generous. We shall return!
